Small Update

My parents are back and they bought an idea with them: what if I was to work at the Eaton Centre when school started? That would save me time and the trouble of commuting from Toronto to Mississauga.  I’d love to work at Coach, but my parents brought up the point of transportation.  Square One is not exactly the easiest location to get to without a car (there are Go Busses and other forms of transit, but a car would be the best method).  Something to think about for the next few days.

I started learning Japanese last night thanks to the Instant Immersion Japanese Software.  After reading the review that was on it, I’m going to start learning kana and sentence structure.  I know some phrases and stuff, but it won’t do much good if I can’t write it or make a proper sentence.

Time to have a drink with the folks.

Carpe diem (Carpet died)

I love my iTouch, but it makes weird assumptions when it comes to typing in other languages.  For the sake of the iTouch, this post will be in English.

The Placement Test wasn’t difficult or easy.  It just took 2 hours of my time.  I  was told that my writing is very good and I’ve been placed in College English, which is fine… But the fact that it wasn’t good enough to exempt me irks me a little.  At least I was not placed in Essential English.  That would of been embarrassing.

When I get home I’m going to do some chores, practice piano and singing, and maybe go out tonight.  I’m also going to research some Japanese books for beginners and do a lesson or two online.

I’m contemplating handing in my two weeks notice today.  Yeah, I know I was told to wait, but I have more information now, so why not toss it in today? I already have next week’s schedule, so there’s nothing stopping me.

Here is where the subway stops.

Here is where my post stops.

I bring you knowledge and fresh bread!

The learning was definitely brought today at my vocal lesson.  I had so much fun singing and learning proper technique.  I have to listen to this John Lennon CD and sing Imagine for next week.  Plus, I’ve been asked to preform two songs for my teacher so she can get a feel of how I preform.  I’m looking forward to it! To top it off, she gave me a free loaf of Basil Onion Bread.  It is amazing.  I’d even go as far to say that it is better than Katima-bread.  All in all, a good way to start the day.

Following a long drive home (the 401 was jammed so I took Mavis up, which didn’t take as long but it felt like it), I had a short information session with some executives from Coach, and had a phone conversation with Chad regarding payment, when my first shift would be and other logistics.  It’s shaping up to be a pretty sweet gig.  I look forward to starting work 2 Mondays from now.

I had an over-priced Philly Cheese steak crepe for lunch and worked from 3-8.  Since then I’ve been watching Daria and writing this post.  Now I’m going to practice the piano and then get an early night of sleep.  I have to be up early tomorrow so I can make it to downtown TO for 9:15 for my English Placement Test for College.  I’ve written University essays! Can’t I just be exempt from writing it and being placed in College English? Too bad I didn’t take the first year writing course in University… I probably could of gotten out of this if I did that.  It’s a shame time travel devices aren’t around yet.  Maybe Apple will come up with something.

Skunk Rampage

For the last couple of nights I have heard the lovely guttural sounds of a dog and some unknown animal fighting in a nearby yard.  As I was driving home tonight after an extended painting session with Remi (the front store now looks amazing in this smashing grey color), I found the culprit hiding under my neighbour’s vehicle (which is a really weird word to spell by the way): a skunk.  I recognized it by the white puffiness in its tail and it’s beady little eyes glinting at my SUV in fear.

It turns out that it is a skunk that has been terrorizing animals and mildly amusing me before bed time.  I wonder if something is going to be done about it before someone gets hurt (or sprayed).  They say if you grab a skunk’s tail and lift it up off the ground it cannot spray you because it needs to plant its feet into the ground in order to release the stench we all know as skunk.  I’m not about to go out there and try it, but it may come in handy one day.

I was invited by Remi to a fundraiser for AIDS at the Buddies In Bad Times Theatre tomorrow night and I think I will go.  It’s $5 a ticket and it should be fun (in bad) times.  I don’t know what will go on when I get there, but something gay will definitely happen.  Tomorrow I also get some information on Coach, I work, and I have my first vocal lesson (I had to cancel last week because of work scheduling me in).  I’m very excited for the lesson! Bring on the learning!
